In a video posted by The Age of Melbourne, John Howard is shown conceding defeat, not just of his government, but even of his own seat of Bennelong. He concedes also that he will step down as leader of his Liberal Party.What is interesting is that in two videos defeated Liberal candidates express deep worry that their recent recolonization ("intervention") in the Northern Territory will be scrapped by the new Labour government. This worry was expressed both by Howard himself, and by his Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Mal Brough, who also lost his seat.
One can only wish Australia the best in its effort to crawl back out of the 19th century.
